General Meeting on January 11th:
A common goal between information architecture and technical writing is to effectively get users to the information they need. But how do we design information spaces, be they web sites, on-line help systems, manuals or some other collection of information, that achieve this goal? In this presentation we will examine how Information Architecture attempts to answer this question and how this relates to technical writing. Steven LeMay is an information architect, interaction designer and usability specialist who's experience includes work with a broad range of firms from large corporations to fledgling start-ups, from the financial industry to the not-for-profit sector. Included in these is RBC Royal Bank, CIBC, Fidelity Investments, CGI, Usability Matters and extendMedia. Recently, Steven joined Toronto based FMC, an international financial software company, as Manager, User Interface Design. When: Where:

Communication is the tie that binds people around the world, crossing boundaries of knowledge, cultures, languages, and values. Technical communication connects engineers, educators, managers, and communicators in a global community. Come to IPCC 2005 in Limerick, Ireland, to explore these connections and share knowledge. This year's theme is Making Connections. For proposed program threads and topics, please visit the website: |
