From the President's Desk:
Your New Executive Committee by Robert Milkovich Welcome to summer! I want to thank everyone who worked very hard this year putting on a great lineup of speakers and steering the chapter through the STC's Transformation Process. It's been a busy year for everyone with lots of change in the air. The Executive Committee have spent a lot of time repositioning the chapter to thrive in the new organizational structure of the STC. As a result of these changes, our chapter will be in a strong position to offer new, member-only programs to help you build your career and gain competitive advantage from being part of STC Toronto. This year, thanks to Joan Janes, we launched a new Tutor Service - we put tutors in touch with those who want to learn how to be a technical communicator. We have nine tutors so far, and the list is growing. Check our web site for details. We're almost ready to launch a new web site. Besides the new look, the site has been completely redesigned under the hood to enable us to expand our online services for you. We'll be offering a new searchable, online directory for members so that you can increase your visibility. If you have unique skills, we'll help people find you. We will also provide the job bank free to members, while non-members will pay a fee for limited access. You will also be able to buy your favourite technical communication books through our expanded online bibliography. And, we will be offering @stctoronto.org email addresses to our members. Watch for these services over the summer. We also have a very exciting new Executive Committee for the 2005-2006 season: President - Rob Hanna Please join me in welcoming the new committee, and your new President, Rob Hanna. I think you'll agree that our chapter will continue to be strong and vibrant in the coming years. And thank you for making my two years as President a very enjoyable experience. Have a safe and happy summer! Robert Milkovich is the outgoing President of the STC Toronto Chapter. |
