Klaus Hofer

Klaus Hofer is a senior member of the STC. He has been with the Toronto chapter since 1987. He specialized in organizational and experimental psychology at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and at the University of Toronto.

Klaus is a co-founder of the Technical Writing Certificate Programme at Toronto's George Brown College, together with Michelle Hutchinson and Peggy Needham. He developed and taught "Applied Psychology for Technical Communicators." This was the first psychology course specifically designed for technical communicators. For this course Klaus also wrote the book From Black Ink to Gray Matter.

In 1988, he founded his company, Communications & Training Inc., in Toronto. Currently Klaus freelances as a trainer and consultant on technical communication issues in Canada, the United States, and Europe.

Klaus makes his home on a quiet lake near Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.
