Riça Night
A past president of the Editors' Association of Canada (EAC), Riça also served on EAC’s Professional Standards Committee. In those positions, she helped develop three respected publications: Editing Canadian English, Professional Editorial Standards, and Meeting Editorial Standards. One of her recent projects was editing, for clarity, both the first and second reports from the Walkerton inquiry. Her editorial work has earned peer recognition (winning Honourable Mention in an EAC-sponsored competition for Editorial Excellence), as well as compliments from her clients. Riça is member of both the Editors' Association of Canada (of which she is a past president) and STC. For the STC, she judged online documents for the latter organization in the 2002 documentation competition. She volunteered as STC Toronto’s Membership Manager and networking coach in 2002. One of our most sought-after seminar instructors, Riça has taught scientific, medical, and business writing and editing; author/editor relations; proofreading; and related subjects for EAC, STC, and many other public- and private-sector groups. Current clients include the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care's Medical Advisory Secretariat, for which she edits Health Technology Assessments on a contract she landed after responding to an ad through EAC.
