"One Hundred Years of Technical Communication: A Significant Endeavour"

The past century has seen many changes in Technical Communication.

Those changes could not have occurred if the original technical communicators had not shared their knowledge and experience.

The messages they conveyed to technical writers all those years ago are as valid today as they were then.

Ron Blicq described aspects of technical communication both historical and current. He will help us to understand

  • the unique field in which we are engaged
  • the impact of globalization on the way we write
  • that technical writing is just as creative as literary writing

Ron has presented this talk to technical communication societies in New Zealand, Australia, Finland, Germany, France, Italy, the US, and the UK, and always to enthusiastic response.

Progress report from Jonathan Baker

Our Director-Sponsor, Jon Baker, gave a presentation about the transformation program that is being undertaken by the international society. He declared that they were reconsidering their U.S.-centred habits of thought in order to reach out to the rest of the world and restore sagging membership numbers and revenue.
