The Volunteer Manager (VM) attends STC Toronto Chapter meetings, Single-Sourcing SIG meetings, and Executive meetings to interact with and manage volunteers. In addition to participating in these meetings, the VM performs administrative tasks, emails members, responds to inquiries, and performs ad hoc tasks that may take around four hours per week.
Activities: To provide activity managers with volunteer resources, the VM creates and maintains the Volunteer Information form, and updates volunteer information in a central database.
The VM collects Activity Manager/Executive Team requirements and contacts potential candidates. Where feasible, volunteers are matched to volunteer positions. Selected volunteers are directed to the appropriate activity manager who will allocate tasks to them, and maintain records about performance for subsequent volunteer recognition.
The VM may work with a volunteer coordinator and the activity managers to collect records of volunteer performance so that the executive can identify potential talent and leaders for the chapter. Where requested, the VM will mentor volunteers, or direct them to senior members of the chapter who are able and willing to do so.
The VM may provide ad hoc volunteer services for the executive team, and provides feedback about volunteering to improve workflow or internal processes. The VM also works with the web-site team to integrate and automate volunteer recruiting, requisition, and allocation activities.
