Recognitions Manager
- Work with the President, Vice-president, and other executive members on nominations for hte following Society honours:
- Associate Fellow
- Distinguished Chapter Service
- Jay Gould Award for Excellence in Teaching Technical Communication
- Work with the President to complete the nomination form and assemble the backup for Associate Fellow and Distinguished Chapter Service
- Publicize all chapter volunteers monthly at the chapter meetings and on the Web site awards are publicized in the newsletter and, when applicable, publicized on the Web site. For known Society awards, the managers to coordinate with are:
- Competition Manager for local and internatinal Tech. PUbs., Art, and Online Competition winners
- Newsletter Manager for Chaper Newsletter award
- Publicity Manager for Chapter Public Relations award
- President and Vice-president for:
- Research grants awarded
- International Tech Video Competion winners
- Frank Wmith Outstnading Journal Article winner
- Associate Fellow, Fellow, and Honorary Fellow honourees
- Work with the President to check the chapter's suply of blank recognition/awards certificates. Reorder and/or redesign more certificates if necessary
- Work with the Volunteer Manager to create the invitee list for volunteer recognition events and to create certificates of appreciation for all volunteers invited to the events
- Work with the Competition Manager in deciding what kinds of awards will be presented to winners (certificates, plaques, and so forth)
- Print blank certificates if needed, or purchase pre-printed certificates and frames (for Best of Show)
- Receive list of winners from the Competition Manager
- Coordinate productin of all award certificates and framed Best of Show awards
- Send thank you certificates to all judges
- Produce and mail duplicate certificates when additinal copies are requested
- Liaise with the Educatin Manager to coordinate the Morgan White award
- Set reminders of upcoming awards nominations on the STC Toronto Yahoo group
Sharing this position is an option, but sharing by more than two people would be ineffective. At present, performing the duties averages no more than an hour a month
References are not required for this position, but it should be held by someone who has spent at least two years as a member of the Chapter, and at least one year on the executive, so that they are familiar with the members and the procedures
