International Recognition and Awards

Associate Fellowship

This year, the Toronto Chapter is proud to announce that its candidate was selected to receive this high honour:

Distinguished Chapter Service Award

With the Distinguished Chapter Service Award, the Society recognizes exemplary dedication to the chapter and its activities. In 2000, the Society added four more names from our chapter to this distinguished list:

  • Mona Albano - for continuous contributions to the Toronto Chapter over many years and especially for the innovation and leadership that has resulted in the phenomenal growth of our chapter membership.
  • Jane Aronovitch - for your exceptional leadership, your many accomplishments and your dedication to the ongoing improvement and success of the Toronto chapter.
  • David Gow - for generously sharing your class act with Toronto chapter members.
  • Ralph Robinson - for continued enthusiasm, helpfulness and personal contributions that have helped make the Toronto chapter and the Society so successful.

Rennie Charles Award
for Outstanding Contributions to the Toronto Chapter

We are proud to announce the recipient of this year’s Rennie Charles Award:

Robert Milkovich

For a sustained contribution to the field of technical communication in Toronto and to helping members of the STC expand their own professional opportunities.

What is the Rennie Charles Award?

Pacesetter Award

The Pacesetter Award recognizes an individual or committee of the Toronto chapter that has shown innovation or creativity related to ideas for or execution of STC activities. This award is not necessarily given every year.

The recipient of this year’s Pacesetter Award is:

  • Marie Battaglia - for developing the general meeting evaluation form and creating detailed statistics so that we can improve our programme.

Friends of STC Toronto

Friends of STC Toronto will include any individual or group that has made a significant contribution to the STC Toronto chapter but is not a member. No person or group may win this award more than once.

The chapter executive identifies these award winners:

Outstanding Chapter Rookie

Members whose volunteer efforts begin within their first year of STC membership are eligible for Rookie Awards. This year our chapter is proud to recognize the following new members for volunteer efforts contributing to the chapter’s success in 1999 - 2000.
