Society-level Recognition

We are proud to announce these awards received by our members during 1997 - 98.

Distinguished Chapter Service Award

The Distinguished Chapter Service Award is designed to recognize exemplary dedication to the chapter and its activities. In 1998, the Society added two more names to our chapter's list:

Benjamin Keevil For being an ideal member—participative, supportive, appreciative, cooperative, and finally, a learner and a leader.
Stan Wilson For inspiring leadership, tireless service, and dedication to the success of the STC Toronto Chapter.

Chapter-level Recognitions

Pacesetter Award

The Pacesetter Award recognizes an individual or committee of the Toronto chapter that has shown innovation or creativity related to ideas for or execution of STC activities. This award is not necessarily given every year.

The recipient of this year’s Pacesetter Award is:

Laurie Pearce For recognizing a need and setting up our mentoring program to meet it.

President's Award

The President’s Award recognizes "a person who has made a significant contribution to the Toronto chapter’s year and is not otherwise (sufficiently) recognized." Members, non-members and executive are all eligible.

1997-98 was a year that saw many people contributing in many ways. Therefore, the President felt compelled, once again, to turn the award into a bouquet, recognizing a number of individuals who were unusually active and supportive.

The recipients of the 1998 President’s Award are:

Anne Shannon For crunching all those bookkeeping numbers and then putting them online.
Colette Theriault and Lori Nurse For seamlessly editing and producing the Communication Times newsletter for the second half of the year.
Gay Merrill For stepping in at the last minute and organizing a successful chapter education event.
Cindy Bowman For her outstanding management, leadership, and team building skills in working with the Program Committee to present our monthly programs.
